Iran’s Revolutionary Guards report explosions of three oil tankers south of the Strait of Hormuz
The Public Relations Department of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has announced that three oil tankers hit a naval mine while passing through an illegal route south of the Strait of Hormuz, causing an explosion and fire.
According to the IRGC, these tankers had turned off their radar and navigation systems and were attempting to pass through the aforementioned route despite warnings from the Navy. The IRGC says that these ships were abandoned on the southern coast of the Strait of Hormuz after the explosion.
The IRGC Navy has warned that the route in question is polluted and that the owners and crews of vessels passing through it are responsible. The force has also announced that it will deal with actions that it says ignore the regulations of the Strait of Hormuz.
