Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Russia-Africa Summit that Moscow has always supported the sovereignty of African countries and their independent development.
Putin announced that the share of the Russian ruble in trade transactions between Russia and Africa reaches 85 percent; he also said that Russian trade in African countries is based on respect and investment and is not of a colonialist nature.
According to Putin, Russian companies in Africa have social responsibility and pay attention to the well-being of employees and their families; he described Russia and African countries as natural allies in creating a multipolar world system free from dictatorship.
The Russian President also expressed hope that in the future Africa will not only meet its food needs but also become one of the major food exporters; he added that the positions of Russia and African countries on many of the most important issues of global politics are close or aligned.
