Uzbekistan increases pays for the transportation of goods to Afghanistan

The Uzbekistan Railways Company has announced that, starting November 7, 2026, it will impose additional costs for transporting goods to Afghanistan in order to prevent a decrease in the company’s revenues. Based on this decision, the additional cost for transporting each wagon by rail has been set at between $67 and $109, and for transportation by road, depending on the distance, between $235 and $637.

These fees apply to most goods that are transported to Afghanistan through Uzbekistan and reloaded at Termez, but wheat, oil, and oil and gas products are exempt from paying these fees.

At the same time, Uzbek media reported that in the first nine months of 2026, about 357,500 foreign citizens traveled to the country for business purposes, a figure that represents a 10.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, Afghan citizens are in first place with 323,660 people; followed by Turkmenistan with 24,196 people and Tajikistan with 6,412 people.
