Araqchi: The 40-day war transformed the security structure of the region, nothing will be the same as before

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said at the opening ceremony of the Martyr Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi Documentation Center and Museum that the 40-day Ramadan War was a turning point in the history of the region and transformed previous security structures.

Araqchi criticized the presence of US military bases in the region, saying that these bases not only did not provide security for the host countries, but, according to him, they had become a factor in insecurity. He also claimed that recent developments have made the role of the Zionist regime in instability and war-making in the region more evident.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that Tehran’s policy of ensuring regional security through the internal capacities of regional countries and without the interference of foreign powers has not changed; he said that regional countries should learn from the experience of recent conflicts and turn to cooperation and peaceful living to establish peace and stability.

Referring to the possibility of a resumption of war, Araqchi said that he preferred to think about the post-war period and expressed hope that the parties involved would not try the military option against Iran again; he emphasized that Iran is ready to cooperate with all countries in the region, especially the Persian Gulf countries.

He also said that a ceasefire can only lead to lasting stability when the cessation of hostilities is implemented comprehensively and on all fronts. Araqchi also announced a review of the management of the Strait of Hormuz in cooperation with Iran and Oman, in line with the new conditions.
