Senior officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye discuss regional coordination in Tehran
Reuters reported, citing two informed sources, that senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are scheduled to meet with Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional coordination.
According to information published by Iranian media, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistani Army Commander General Asim Munir, and Turkish Intelligence Director Ibrahim Kalin will attend the joint meeting.
The deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said that Asem Monir, in a meeting with Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of the council, had announced the decision of senior officials from the three countries to travel to Tehran and hold a joint meeting.
This Iranian official expressed hope that the participating countries, with Iran’s cooperation and using its experience in providing security, will take a step towards creating regional security by relying on domestic capacities.
The meeting is planned amid reports of increased security tensions in the region. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan also signed a joint defense agreement in August of this year, according to which an armed attack on one member is considered an attack on all members.
