Trump’s Christmas speech full of false and exaggerated claims

In his televised Christmas address to the nation, US President Donald Trump spoke of his administration’s historic achievements over the past 11 months and described America as on a path of unprecedented progress.

Trump sharply criticized the previous US administration, claiming that he inherited the country in the worst possible condition and was now fixing it.

He said that for the first time in 50 years, immigrants are fleeing the United States, the borders are safer than ever, drug trafficking has decreased by 94 percent, and the US military is the most powerful in the world.

The US president claimed to have turned the worst trade deals into the best, ended eight wars, neutralized the Iranian nuclear threat, stopped the Gaza war, and brought historic peace to the Middle East.

He also spoke of attracting a record-breaking $18 trillion in investment, returning all hostages, and building the world’s strongest military.

Trump announced that more than a million American soldiers will receive a special bonus of $1,776 before Christmas.

He promised to take on health insurance companies, lower interest rates, announce major housing reforms, and unveil big tax cuts next year.

The speech, which was accompanied by the White House’s Christmas decorations, made no mention of Ukraine or Venezuela, and many of Trump’s claims have faced criticism over their accuracy.
