According to reports, floods and landslides on the China-Nepal border have so far left 750 dead and more than 3,000 missing; 261 foreign nationals from 23 countries are among the missing.
The Associated Press reported that the death toll in Nepal has reached 734 and the number of missing has reached 2,498; Chinese authorities have also reported 16 deaths and 546 missing in the Tibetan region.
According to Xinhua, among the missing foreigners are 104 Nepalese, 49 Indians, 33 Latvians, 18 Americans, and 15 Britons, with citizens of several other countries also on the list.
Following this event, houses, cars, and agricultural machinery were buried under mud and a number of bridges were destroyed. Power was cut off in some areas and access to the affected areas became difficult.
Nepalese authorities have warned of the possibility of new floods, and search and rescue operations are continuing to find thousands of missing people.
