Russian missile strikes on Kiev leave 12 dead, over 30 injured

Ukrainian officials say 12 people were killed and more than 30 others injured in Russian missile strikes on the country’s capital, Kiev, early Thursday.

As a result of the attacks, a nine-story residential building in the Solomiansky district caught fire and its upper floors were destroyed; according to the mayor of Kiev, seven people died in the area.

Buildings, warehouses, a school, and a children’s hospital were also damaged, and power was cut off to about 90,000 homes in the capital, although the Ukrainian Electricity Company has reported that power has been restored to more than half of these homes.

Russian officials said the attacks targeted parts production facilities, drones, a military depot and a logistics center in and around Kiev.

During these attacks, a Russian drone also crashed in Romanian territory and another drone crossed Moldovan airspace.
