Reports indicate that the Israeli regime has used a new type of bomb in an attack in the Gaza Strip. Some Palestinians have described this weapon as a “small” nuclear bomb due to the intensity of the explosion and its effects.
However, published analyses suggest that this weapon is likely a thermobaric bomb or “vacuum bomb”; a weapon that operates by creating an intense blast wave and high heat, which is fundamentally different from a nuclear bomb.
Previously published research has also reported the use of some thermal and thermobaric munitions in Gaza, however, no independent specifications have been provided regarding the exact type of weapon used in this incident.
