Tajik Ambassador meets with Islamic Emirate Foreign Minister, emphasizes expansion of fraternal and economic relations

Saadi Sharifi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Kabul, met and held talks with Maulvi Amir Khan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, referring to the development of diplomatic relations and the visits of delegations from both sides, emphasized that Afghanistan and Tajikistan, as two neighboring, brotherly and Muslim countries with deep cultural and linguistic commonalities, can optimally utilize the existing opportunities to expand relations at all levels, especially political, economic and trade cooperation.

He added that no one can harm the friendly relations and atmosphere of trust between the two countries, and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has a strong commitment to further expanding relations with the Republic of Tajikistan.

Tajik Ambassador Saadi Sharifi conveyed the greetings and good wishes of the Tajik Foreign Minister and informed him of the latest developments regarding previous agreements between Kabul and Dushanbe.

He stated that the Republic of Tajikistan is pursuing important economic programs and projects on the common border of the two countries with the prospect of strengthening economic cooperation with Afghanistan and is seeking to expand relations with Kabul in good faith and based on existing realities.

Finally, the two sides exchanged views on how to hold a joint economic committee to strengthen border and security cooperation, and the plans of the two countries’ foreign ministries in the coming year.
