Pakistan’s pharmaceutical exports fall by more than 30 percent
Pakistani media reported that the country’s pharmaceutical exports fell sharply in fiscal 2026, from more than $457 million in fiscal 2025 to about $319 million, a decline that Pakistani pharmaceutical industry officials say is largely due to the suspension of trade with Afghanistan.
According to statistics from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the value of the country’s pharmaceutical exports has decreased by about $138 million in one year.
Former Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association chief Taqir-ul-Haq said the suspension of trade with Afghanistan had caused huge losses to the country’s pharmaceutical industry and forced Afghan patients to buy their medicines at higher prices.
