Zionist rabbi calls for the overthrow of Netanyahu’s cabinet

Yitzhak Yosef, the former chief rabbi of Eastern Judaism and a member of the Shas party’s Council of Elders, has called on his close associates not to vote for the party in the upcoming elections and to work to overthrow the right-wing cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Haaretz, Yousef believes that the right wing has failed on the issue of exempting Haredis from military service and that it is more possible to reach an agreement on this issue with a left-wing cabinet.

This stance comes as Yousef’s differences with Shas leader Aryeh Deri have intensified over the party’s policies and the issue of Haredi military service.
