Rezaei :Iran considers changing its nuclear doctrine if war resumes

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Security Council, has said that the country will remain a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) but will defend its nuclear rights.

Referring to the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Rezaei said that public demands to change the country’s nuclear policy have increased, but no official decision has been made in this regard so far; he added that in the event of another war, Iran will decide whether to maintain or change its previous nuclear doctrine.

The Secretary of the Iranian Security Council has also said that Tehran will not negotiate with the United States until its demands are met and is trying to end the conflict in a way that no country dares to attack Iran again.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei has also said that it is unlikely that this waterway will be reopened unless Iran’s demands are addressed; he also confirmed that he has read the letter from US Vice President Vance and has not yet responded to it.

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had previously said that given the continued mediation efforts of Qatar and Pakistan, Tehran currently sees no reason to meet with American officials. According to him, Iran’s demands, including the lifting of sanctions and a reduction in the presence of American forces in the region, remain intact.
