OCHA: Humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has intensified and only 17 aid plans have been funded
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is escalating, with millions of families facing difficult survival decisions.
In a message on X-Network, OCHA said that for many Afghans, living in conditions where access to food is not guaranteed means making difficult choices between basic needs such as food, medicine, and bread.
The organization has emphasized that immediate support from the international community can play a vital role in the survival of millions of Afghan families.
According to OCHA, Afghanistan’s Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for 2026 is only 17 percent funded, and out of the total $1.71 billion needed, about $292 million has been received so far.
OCHA has warned that this severe funding shortfall has severely limited the ability of aid agencies to respond to the growing needs across the country.
