Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, stressed the importance of ending the war in Ukraine and ceasing hostilities.
Modi said that the two countries should work towards ending the war and moving towards peace. He called Putin “my friend” and emphasized the expansion of economic relations between India and Russia.
In response to Modi’s remarks, Putin said that he was grateful for his remarks and that Russia was moving in the same direction.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation and strategic partnership between India and Russia. Relations between the two countries continue in the energy, defense, space and other areas.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, a meeting where leaders of various countries in the region discuss political, economic, and security cooperation.
