US President Donald Trump, who was on board Air Force One, described the talks with Iran in Oman on Friday as very positive and announced that another meeting would be held early next week.
Trump emphasized that the negotiations are proceeding positively and expects further talks to be productive.
In contrast, a reporter for the Axios website, citing two informed sources, claimed that during Friday’s talks in Muscat, Trump’s senior advisers Steve Whittock and Jared Kushner met directly with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi.
However, Iranian officials emphasized today that all of Araqchi’s talks with the American delegation in Muscat were conducted indirectly and solely through Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidy, and that no direct meetings took place.
