CENTCOM: Security meeting held in Bahrain with the participation of 11 Middle Eastern countries
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that a security meeting was held in Bahrain with the participation of military officials from 11 Middle Eastern countries.
A statement from CENTCOM on the X social network stated that this regional security dialogue was hosted by the Bahrain Defense Force and was attended by CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper and senior military officials from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
The meeting discussed the current security situation in the region and opportunities for strengthening defense cooperation among the participating countries.
The participants also reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring the free flow of trade in the Strait of Hormuz.
The CENTCOM commander said in the meeting that the United States and regional partners continue to work together to maintain regional stability and security.
The CENTCOM statement also said that the United States and regional countries are managing a “broad air and missile defense umbrella” in the Middle East, and in January a new regional air defense coordination unit was created to share information and counter threats.
According to CENTCOM, this was the first time that Syrian and Lebanese military officials had participated in a US-led regional defense summit.
