Uzbekistan to launch new multi-way freight route between China and Afghanistan
Uzbekistan has announced the launch of a new multimodal route for the transport of goods between China and Afghanistan via Central Asia.
The route reportedly involves transporting containers from China via rail to the Altin Kul station in Kazakhstan and then to Uzbekistan.
The goods are then transported to the Bukhara logistics center and from there to the Afghan city of Herat via Turkmenistan.
It is said that previously, the transport of goods on this route was mainly carried out by sea to Bandar Abbas, Iran, and then by land to Afghanistan.
Officials say the new route, about 7,400 kilometers long, could reduce transit time to about 30 days and improve the efficiency of the transit process.
This move comes as efforts to develop trade corridors and strengthen regional connectivity are increasing.
