Israeli forces begin withdrawing from parts of Gaza as part of ceasefire agreement
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began their gradual withdrawal from the central and northern parts of the Gaza Strip on Friday .
This move is part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which was approved last night by the Israeli cabinet and was brokered by the United States led by Donald Trump.
According to the agreement, the ceasefire will take effect within 24 hours of ratification, and Israeli forces will withdraw to the yellow line, a line that still keeps about 53 to 58 percent of Gaza’s area, about 210 square kilometers, under Israeli control.
This limited withdrawal will include the withdrawal from major cities such as Gaza City and Khan Younis, but Israeli forces will remain in the Philadelphia Corridor (Gaza-Egypt border) and buffer zones.
