Collective Security Treaty meeting in Moscow emphasizes review of Afghanistan situation
At the Collective Security Treaty Organization meeting in Moscow, officials discussed the situation in Afghanistan and future security cooperation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that instability in Afghanistan, along with threats such as terrorism and drug trafficking, requires greater regional attention and cooperation.
He emphasized expanding cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States to strengthen stability and security.
It was also announced that a joint meeting between these organizations is scheduled to be held in October to review the security situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Kazakh officials also emphasized the strengthening of regional security cooperation, claiming to be concerned about the continued instability in Afghanistan.
