344 Afghan refugees released from Pakistani prisons and 164 prisoners transferred from Iran to Afghanistan
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriates announced that during the current week, 344 Afghan refugees who were being held in Pakistani prisons due to problems with their residency documents were released and returned to the country.
According to the ministry’s information, 232 of the released people entered Afghanistan through Torkham Port in Nangarhar Province and another 112 people entered Afghanistan through Spin Boldak in Kandahar Province.
The Ministry of Refugees added that these people have been transferred to their original areas after receiving humanitarian aid, and efforts are continuing to support and care for the returnees.
Meanwhile, the Prisons Administration has announced the transfer of 164 Afghan prisoners, including three women, from Iran to Afghanistan.
Molavi Mohammad Yousef Mistry, the general director of the Prisons Affairs Administration, said that relevant officials have been instructed to pay special attention to the situation of prisoners transferred from Iran.
The Prisons Administration has not provided further information about the types of charges, length of sentence, and details of these individuals’ cases.
