Some news sources have reported hearing an explosion and seeing flames near the Strait of Hormuz; however, the cause of this event is still unknown.
Russia Today reported that flames could be seen from afar over the waters of Oman.
Images of a ship on fire in the “Kumzar” area of the Musandam Peninsula, Oman, near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, have also been released. So far, no official information has been released about the cause of the accident, the type of ship, and possible casualties or damages.
