Canada replaces US ‘Golden Dome’ with Australian radar system
The Canadian government, led by Mark Carney, has signed a contract to purchase the long-range radar system “JORN” from Australia to monitor the Arctic region.
The contract is considered the largest defense export agreement in Australian history and is the first time the country has exported such advanced defense technology overseas.
The new system provides surveillance capabilities up to about 3,000 kilometers in the Arctic region, and its goal is to strengthen early warning capabilities and monitor air and maritime movements in the region.
Previously, Donald Trump criticized Ottawa’s decision not to select the US “Golden Dome” system and warned of the possible security consequences of this decision.
