Death toll from 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia rises to 132 dead, 570 injured

At least 132 people have died and 570 others have been injured after a powerful earthquake struck western Colombia. Reports indicate extensive rescue operations for people trapped under the rubble.

Parts of a hospital, including a pediatric and neonatal ward, in the city of Cali were also reported to be among the damaged structures.

The Colombian government has declared the event a “national disaster” and has dispatched military forces to the affected areas to assist with relief and rescue operations.

It was also reported that a number of buildings in Cali were destroyed and six airports were damaged, resulting in flights being suspended in some areas.
