The United States has offered a reward of up to $5 million for information about Mahmoud Shah Habibi

The US State Department has offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the recovery of Mahmoud Shah Habibi, an Afghan-American citizen and former head of the Afghan Civil Aviation Authority.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says Habibi was arrested in August 2022 near his home in Kabul along with his driver and 29 employees of the Asia Advisory Group.

According to American officials, except for Habibi and one other person, the other detainees were later released, but no contact has been made with Habibi since his arrest.

The Islamic Emirate has previously said that it has not arrested Mahmoud Shah Habibi and has no information about his fate.
