Reuters reported, citing the Washington Post, that US President Donald Trump secretly left Turkey on a military flight after a NATO summit last month due to threats of assassination from Iran.
Trump traveled to Ankara on a new plane donated by Qatar and recently refurbished, but when leaving Turkey, contrary to expectations, he used an older Air Force One plane.
The move came as tensions with Iran escalated and questions were raised about the security of the new plane, which was making its first foreign trip.
Before leaving Ankara, Trump said he would fly to RAF Mildenhall in the UK on an older plane for “reminiscences,” while the new plane would stop at the same base to visit American troops.
