World Radio Day UNAMA Radio has informed and united the people of Afghanistan for over a century
Today, Friday, February 13, is World Radio Day The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) announced on this occasion that for more than a hundred years, radio has informed, educated, and connected the people of Afghanistan across provinces, languages, and generations.
In a special message, UNAMA Acting Head Georgette Gagnon emphasized that today, radio remains the main source of information for millions of Afghans, especially in rural and remote areas, and has maintained its unparalleled role in providing access to news, education, and culture.
On behalf of the United Nations, Ms. Gagnon expressed her full solidarity with all radio staff in Afghanistan and appreciated their efforts in challenging circumstances.
