Egypt proposes forming an Arab defense alliance similar to NATO at Doha summit
Egypt will present a new plan for forming an Arab defense alliance on the eve of the emergency summit of Arab-Islamic leaders to be held tomorrow, Monday, in Doha, Qatar.
This initiative, which builds on past experiences, aims to create collective deterrence against regional threats, especially after the recent Israeli attack on Hamas leaders on Qatari soil.
According to a report by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, citing an anonymous official in Cairo, Egypt has proposed mobilizing about 20,000 of its soldiers to form a regional force led by Cairo.
This force will be organized with the participation of soldiers from Arab countries such as Morocco and Algeria, based on regional military and political demographic balances.
Egypt plans to assume primary command and leave secondary command to Saudi Arabia or one of the Persian Gulf countries.
