Reuters poll: Half of US independent voters plan to vote against Trump
According to the poll, which was completed on Monday, November 2, satisfaction with US President Donald Trump’s performance has fallen to 32 percent, near the lowest level of his presidency. When asked about party preference for control of Congress, Democrats lead with 46 percent to Republicans with 38 percent.
The poll results show that 50 percent of independent voters said their vote in the congressional elections would be a vote against Trump, while only 13 percent considered it a vote in his favor.
Still, 78% of participants cited the rising cost of living as a very important or decisive factor in their vote, with Democrats more likely to be trusted in this regard, with 43% of respondents saying the same, compared to 32% of Republicans.
The poll also shows that 49 percent of Democratic voters are very eager to participate in the election, compared to 33 percent of Republicans.
Meanwhile, Politico quoted five NATO diplomats as saying that the coalition is concerned that Trump’s Congress will increase pressure on NATO if the Republicans lose the midterm elections.
According to this report, some diplomats have suggested that Trump may order the withdrawal of several thousand more American troops from Europe in response to the Republican Party’s defeat. The possibility of reducing America’s financial contribution to NATO and limiting weapons purchases for Ukraine has also been raised, although these matters remain concerns and possibilities.
