Malaysia holds separate meetings to address security threats
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Chief Secretary to the Government and the governor of the country’s central bank will review Malaysia’s preparedness against security threats in separate meetings with government departments and financial institutions.
Anwar Ibrahim said in the country’s parliament on Tuesday, November 3, that the move was taken in response to security threats and recent cyberattacks against digital infrastructure in Europe and Western countries, including administrative systems.
Referring to tensions in the Middle East, developments in Yemen and the Red Sea, and security threats in Europe, the Malaysian Prime Minister said: “These” events show that crises abroad can also affect the security of our people, economic stability, and national interests.
He also added that Malaysia’s National Security Council has held a meeting to review existing coordination mechanisms between ministries, institutions, and security forces, and the country’s level of preparedness for any possible situation.
