On the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, November 2, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that journalists around the world continue to face heavy risks and costs for telling the truth.
Guterres has warned that targeting journalists and silencing their voices deprives people of access to information and ends up harming everyone.
“When journalists are targeted and their reporting is silenced, we all suffer,” he said.
In this message, the UN Secretary-General emphasized ensuring justice for journalists and holding perpetrators of crimes against media workers accountable.
