Some American media outlets, citing sources in the US government, have reported that the reduction in defensive ammunition stocks has limited the country’s ability to respond to Iranian missile attacks.
In contrast, Mike Waltz, the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has rejected reports of a reduction or withdrawal of US defensive munitions, calling them false.
Based on these reports, Donald Trump on Friday postponed a decision to escalate military operations against Iran because of concerns about the depletion of US stocks of Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defense munitions in the Middle East.
