Khalilzad republishes claims of thousands of former Afghan soldiers being moved near the hypothetical Durand Line
Former US envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has republished a BBC report on a claim by a member of Pakistan’s Balochistan provincial assembly that thousands of former Afghan soldiers have been transferred to areas near the hypothetical Durand Line.
Fazal Qader, Mandkhel, told a session of the Balochistan parliament that the security situation in the province was deteriorating and thousands of former Afghan soldiers had been deployed in areas near the Durand Line.
Mandkhel has asked the Pakistani government to explain why these people are being transferred and settled in border areas.
However, this claim has not yet been confirmed by Pakistani officials or independent sources, and Khalilzad did not provide details or independent confirmation about it in his republishing of this report.
