WHO: Dozens of Ebola victims and hundreds of cases recorded in Congo
The World Health Organization has announced that since the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo, 321 confirmed cases and 116 suspected cases have been recorded, resulting in 48 deaths and six recoveries.
The organization also said that there had been nine confirmed cases in Uganda so far, but with the identification of new cases, the number of infected people has increased to 15.
The Ugandan Ministry of Health has announced that new cases have been identified among people who have been in contact with infected patients, and the process of investigation and tracing is ongoing.
The World Health Organization had previously reported hundreds of suspected cases of the “Bundesbugyo” strain of Ebola in Congo, but after laboratory tests, some of these cases were removed from the list.
The organization has emphasized that the final figures are still changing and may increase or decrease as testing and research.
