The Globe and Mail Canadian newspaper :Prime Minister is likely to resign on Monday

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce his resignation ahead of a national faction meeting on Wednesday, the Globe and Mail reported.

According to the report, which was published on Sunday, the exact time of Trudeau’s resignation announcement is not yet known, but it is expected to happen before a key meeting of the national faction of the party on Wednesday.

The 53-year-old Canadian politician took over the leadership of the Liberal Party in 2013 when the party was in a critical situation and had been relegated to third place in the Canadian House of Commons for the first time.

His resignation is likely to lead to new demands for quick elections in order to put in place a government that can interact with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump in the next four years.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is likely to announce his intention to step down soon, but has not yet made a final decision, according to Reuters.
