Unprecedented increase in armed violence in Pakistan in the last ten years
According to data released by the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), the level of armed violence in Pakistan has reached its highest level in the last ten years.
The Economist newspaper, publishing a graph on the social network X, reported that despite Asim Munir’s efforts to present a strong image of the country, the internal security situation has deteriorated.
The report states that attacks by armed groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Baloch separatist groups, and other armed groups, have increased.
Insecurity in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and security tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have also been cited as the main factors behind the escalation of violence.
