Russia: West ignore Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that the United States, Britain and France, by ignoring the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, are involving non-nuclear states in plans that, according to the country, undermine global stability.
The ministry also called the description of NATO as a “defense alliance” a political myth, stressing that this view has lost its credibility.
According to Moscow, the continuation of the nuclear programs of Britain and France indicates an attempt by these countries to circumvent obligations related to arms control agreements.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has described NATO’s gradual expansion towards its borders as “geopolitical aggression” and a threat to its national security.
The organization also holds the West responsible for the deterioration of relations between the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and claims that European countries are seeking to weaken Russia by supporting the Ukrainian government.
