Republicans lose in US midterm elections, Democrats gain more seats

Democratic candidate James Tallarico won the race for the Texas Senate, ceding a seat previously held by Republicans to Democrats. He is reportedly the first Democratic candidate to win a Texas Senate election since 1988.

This victory came despite Elon Musk having spent more than $200 million supporting the Republican candidate in this race.

According to the latest results announced from the US Congressional midterm elections, Democrats have won 47 seats in the Senate and Republicans have won 38 seats. In the House of Representatives, Democrats are leading with 147 seats compared to 92 seats for Republicans.

US President Donald Trump, reacting to the election results, said that his name was not on the ballot and that he would have won a landslide victory if he had been nominated.

Meanwhile, the Fox News host, one of Trump’s favorite media outlets, has said that the consequences of the war against Iran played a role in the Republican Party’s poor results in the midterm elections.
