The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Democrats’ victory and their control of both houses of the US Congress could face Israel in a more difficult political environment in Washington.
According to the newspaper, the increase in the number of representatives critical of Israeli policies may lead to restrictions on arms sales, the suspension of military aid, and even attempts to impose an arms embargo on Tel Aviv.
The newspaper also mentioned the issue of Donald Trump’s suspension of approximately four billion dollars in annual US military aid to Israel.
Yedioth Ahronoth also considered the war with Iran and its economic consequences to be factors influencing the Republicans’ failure, writing that Tehran could evaluate the results of these electoral developments as a victory for itself.
