The defeat of the Republicans in the election‌ US midterms, the final two years of Trump’s presidency, face serious challenges

International media outlets have reported that the Democrats’ victory in both houses of the US Congress is a heavy defeat for Donald Trump and the Republican Party, and could lead to a political deadlock and restrictions on the advancement of his administration’s programs in the final two years of his presidency.

The Daily Telegraph wrote that this victory paves the way for a wide-ranging investigation into Trump, his family and his administration. The Associated Press also reported that voter dissatisfaction with the war against Iran, rising living costs and concerns about government corruption were important factors in the Republicans’ defeat.

According to reports, Democrats have won in a number of states that were traditionally Republican strongholds, including Texas, Kansas, and South Carolina; a result that, according to the New York Times, indicates a decline in support among some of Trump’s former voters.

Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has predicted that Democrats could win 55 Senate seats and more than 250 House seats; he has pointed to the 2028 presidential election as making it difficult for Republicans to return to the Congressional majority.

The New York Times described these results as a sign of the beginning of Trump’s political decline, but emphasized that he will remain in power for another two years.
