Britain makes it harder for immigrants to obtain permanent residency, waiting time increases to 30 years
The British Home Office has presented a new plan to tighten the conditions for immigrants to receive permanent residency, according to which most immigrants will have to wait 10 years instead of five.
British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has said that the waiting period will vary based on income, type of job, immigration background and the contribution of immigrants to the British economy and society.
Under the plan, immigrants who violate British immigration laws would have to wait at least 20 years to receive permanent residency.
The bill, which was presented to the British parliament on Monday, states that immigrants who entered the country illegally could wait up to 30 years to receive permanent residency.
