Bosnia and Herzegovina’s border police have announced that 96 people were prevented from illegally crossing the country’s border in two separate incidents in the city of Bistrita.
In the first incident, 63 people, including 40 Pakistani nationals and 23 Bangladeshi nationals, were identified and arrested. Two boats were also seized and two people were identified on suspicion of smuggling migrants.
In the second incident, 33 people, including 18 Afghan nationals, 13 Bangladeshis and two Pakistanis, were arrested for illegal crossing.
Bosnian border police say the investigation into the incidents is ongoing and the Banja Luka regional center of the Department of Foreigners’ Affairs has also been notified.
