Mohsen Rezaei: Iran will not return to negotiations until its conditions are met. We have a broader plan if war resumes

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said in an interview with Drop Site that military action against Iran has a cost and that Tehran has the necessary ability to respond if the war continues; he added that Iran did not use all of its capabilities in the previous stages and is prepared for the next stages.

Rezaei has warned that the continuation of the current situation could make energy markets unstable for the next three years. He said the war continues to affect regional relations and the Gulf states are redefining their relations with Iran.

He also said that if the fighting resumes, more extensive plans will be put in place and some US assets in the region, including cables, data centers, and artificial intelligence facilities, may be targeted.

Emphasizing the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has said that managing this waterway for Tehran is not simply a matter of collecting tolls, but also security, insurance, and environmental protection.

Rezaei has emphasized that Iran has presented seven new conditions through mediators and will neither open the Strait of Hormuz nor return to negotiations until these conditions are implemented; according to him, Tehran wants an agreement that includes practical guarantees in its structure, not an agreement that relies solely on the political goodwill of the other party.

He added that if Washington adheres to its commitments, there is a possibility of reopening the Strait of Hormuz and continuing diplomacy; but Iran will not give up its leverage before the other party implements its commitments.
