North Korea issues border warning to South Korea, orders decisive action in case of security threat
North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA)It has been reported that Pyongyang has ordered its border forces to take immediate and decisive action if South Korea threatens its security.
According to this report, North Korean Army Marshal Pak Jong-chun visited border fortifications with South Korea on Tuesday along with the country’s leader’s sister, Kim Yo-jong.
During the visit, Kim Yo-jong said that new artillery units had been deployed to their firing positions along the border; South Korean media warned that the order could increase the risk of conflict along the two countries’ heavily armed border.
This order was issued despite South Korea claiming that Pyongyang has sent up to 7,000 workers to border areas this year and has crossed the border line and entered South Korean territory about 50 times.
In contrast, North Korea has rejected these claims, calling them “ridiculous talk” aimed at projection; Pak Jong-chun has said that the country’s military is aware of the border situation and is carrying out its duties within its territory; he has called on soldiers to turn the border into an “impregnable fortress.”
