NATO disagreement over long-term aid to Ukraine leaves no agreement for 2027
Western media have reported that NATO member states have failed to reach an agreement on long-term military aid commitments to Ukraine through 2027, due to opposition from Italy.
According to these reports, NATO members have agreed to allocate 70 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine for 2026, but negotiations over commitments for future years remain divided.
Reports also indicate that the United States opposed the inclusion of a phrase in the final statement of the NATO summit that directly links Ukraine’s security to the security of Europe.
NATO member states are scheduled to complete negotiations on the draft final declaration before the alliance’s summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
