Eight Islamic countries strongly condemn attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement condemning in the strongest terms the repeated raids by extremist Israeli settlers on Al-Aqsa Mosque and provocative actions in this holy place.

The statement states that the settlers’ entry into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque with the support of the Zionist regime forces and the raising of the Israeli flag in the mosque’s compound is a clear violation of international law, UN resolutions, and the historical and legal status of the holy sites in occupied East Jerusalem.

The signatory countries, emphasizing the Islamic identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, declared that the entire area of this holy site is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Endowment Authority, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, is the sole legal authority for managing and regulating its affairs.

The statement also emphasized the historical role of the Hashemite Custody of Jordan in protecting the Islamic and Christian holy sites of Jerusalem and rejected any attempt to change the historical and legal status of these sites.

The foreign ministers of these countries have called on the regime to immediately end these actions and have warned that continuing such behavior could lead to an escalation of tensions, the spread of extremism, and the weakening of international efforts to establish peace.

In the end, the eight Islamic countries emphasized their firm support for the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
