ISIS claims responsibility for deadly explosion in Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw, killing 7 including a Chinese Muslim citizen
The ISIS Khorasan group claimed responsibility for Monday’s explosion in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul.
Khalid Zadran, spokesman for the Kabul Police Headquarters, announced that at around 3:00 PM on Monday, an explosion occurred near the kitchen of the Chinese Noodle restaurant located in the flower shop alley in Shahr-e-Naw. The restaurant belongs to a joint Afghan-Chinese family.
According to Zadran’s report, seven people died in the explosion, including a Chinese Muslim citizen named Ayub, and several others were injured.
The restaurant’s owners are Abdul Majeed, a Chinese Muslim, his wife, and an Afghan citizen named Abdul Jabbar.
It has not yet been officially determined whether the explosion was a suicide bombing or something else, and security forces are continuing their investigation into the matter.
This incident comes as ISIS Khorasan has carried out several targeted attacks against public places of minorities and foreigners in Kabul and other cities in recent months
