Deadly train collision in Spain leaves at least 21 dead, dozens injured
In a tragic rail accident in southern Spain, a passenger train derailed and crashed into another train traveling in the opposite direction. The accident occurred on Sunday near the town of Adamuz in the province of Cordoba, about 360 kilometers south of Madrid.
According to police sources and local officials, at least 21 people have lost their lives in the incident and many others have been injured. Emergency services, firefighters, and the Red Crescent are heavily present at the scene of the incident and are conducting rescue operations and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined and an investigation has been launched by Spanish transport authorities and police. Initial images from the scene show severe damage to the carriages and scattered parts.
The incident is one of the deadliest rail accidents in Spain in recent years and has raised concerns about the safety of the country’s rail network.
