Turkish police arrested 1130 protesters in connection with recent protests in this country

The Ministry of Interior of Türkiye announced that since last Wednesday, the police have arrested 1130 protesters during the massive protests against the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Akram Imamoglu.

Akram Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul, was officially arrested on Sunday on charges of financial corruption. Ankara’s treatment of Imamoglu has triggered a wave of nationwide protests in Türkiye.

According to Reuters, the Turkish judges asked the court to keep Akram Imamoglu and 4 of his assistants in custody until the court is held, and the court was supposed to announce its final opinion on this matter on Sunday, but the court rejected this request and issued a sentence for Oglu’s imprisonment.

After the imprisonment of Imamoglu, the President of Türkiye said that the main opposition party is responsible for the financial losses in recent days; I demand an end to support for fringe organizations to attack the security forces who take advantage of the opportunity and the arrest of the mayor of Istanbul is a trend towards violence.
