Collective Security Treaty Organization: Security situation on Tajikistan-Afghanistan border remains complicated
Viktor Vasiliev, Chairman of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), announced that the threat posed by the presence of armed groups along Afghanistan’s northern borders remains the alliance’s most important security concern in Central Asia.
He said at the St. Petersburg meeting that the organization’s member states will increase their cooperation to counter security threats and extremist groups, and described the security situation on the Afghan-Tajik border as “still complex.”
This is while the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has always emphasized that Afghan soil is not a threat to any country, especially neighboring countries, and will not allow Afghan soil to be used against other countries.
